Myst in Bridgend

Tim Rylandsbrought Myst to Bridgend over three years ago, since then teachers across the county have been using the immersive worlds to develop visual literacy, speaking and listening skills and creative writing. This wiki is a place to share information and ideas about our work with the Myst series of games. Please feel free to add any of your own ideas, activities and/or links that might be useful to others.

The story is about a culture called the D'ni (pronounced Dunny) that live in a massive cavern deep below the surface of the Earth that have found a way to write in books and create a link to the place where they have written in the books. On the first page you'll find a glowing image of the place that was described in the book. When someone touches it, they are immediately linked to that spot.
Many people think they are creating the ages they write, but they are actually writing a link to another dimension to a place that already exists, has existed, or will exist. There are strict rules to follow when writing a Linking Book, and you'll see in the MYST series what happens when people abuse the power they believe that they own.
